Have you ever dated a girl and realized you like their sister or mom better? On a recent trip to my local Publix Supermarket, I found out that Abita TurboDog has a sister called Abita Amber Beer. I tossed a six-pack into my shopping cart and headed home. As I started making dinner that night I pulled my trusty Dog N’ Suds mug out of the freezer and filled it with Abita. Like most younger sisters the head was much better than TurboDog and the taste was in a different class altogether. I can honestly say Abita Amber might be my new favorite beer.
Abita Amber is like Yuengling with more flavor. Not that Yuengling is watered down by any means, but Abita walks the fine line of a beer that can be consumed on the hottest of Florida summer days or sitting around a fire on a cold December night. If it were a little bit stronger than 4.5% ABV it would be perfect. The only real problem keeping this from being my go to beer is the price. At almost $9, I can buy a 12 pack of Yuengling for the price of a six pack of Abita Amber Beer.

This may be the most perfect pun I’ve ever seen, and I just wanted to thank you for that. It’s a fantastic beer to boot.

Coincidentally, I tried this last week as well. Not bad at all.

Abita Purple Haze is my favorite! It’s Raspberry flavored, but not too much. (again, I’m a chick, and let’s face it, flavored beer is girly)
