When a woman enters the twilight of cougardom, most, if not all, do not get better with age. This is not the case however with Santa Teresa 1796. Ok so she’s not a real person, but you get the point. She’s the best tasting 212-year-old chick I’ve ever had in MY mouth. The bottle is very similar to a wine bottle and is sealed with a cork which is covered with blood-red wax. The whole package looks as if it were pulled from the belly of an old mangled ship miles beneath the Caribbean sea.
Santa Teresa is great straight up on the rocks, but also mixes well with just about anything. Like a good woman, this Venezuelan rum smells great and has a smooth, buttery taste. Harsh is the last word that comes to mind. I’d have to say that next to Pyrat’s Gold, this is my favorite rum.
However, like most exotic and intoxicating women, this bitch ain’t no cheap date. A 750ml will set you back about $42 at your neighborhood liquor store, and you can bet your ass you won’t find it at the average bar. But like most Venezuelan women, you can find it on just about any website for a whole hell of a lot cheaper.

what the fuck?! “like most venezuelan women, you can find it on just about any website for a whole hell lot cheaper.”?! that’s so sexist and many other things! however, since you gave a great review to the best rum in the world in my opinion i’ll stop the bashing… then again im venezuelan so i guess im biased! also i love rum, liqour of my preserence… adn then agian i’ve always wanted to be a pirate… so just love ur site, especially this post adn quit tose comments!
p.s.: if ou ever get ahold of it, or have a venezuelan friend, have them bring you “Ron Cacique” (”Cacique”=chief) its much cheaper over there and a very good alternative!
